She was born in Norfolk, VA and married Gari ‘Murf” Murphy in 1985. In 1986 together they relocated to Florida and began their new life. Cathy was a home health aide for many years, she worked for both large companies as well as individual families, and at all locations she poured her love and whole heart into the care for each of those who she was asked to care for, becoming more like family rather than an aide. She had a natural love and gift for taking care of others, so it was normal for her to be “Mom” to many. Her dedication, love and drive to protect others will forever be in the hearts and minds of those who knew her.
Cathy is survived by her brother Danny (Kim) Widgeon, daughter Shelby (Kevin) Stockdale, her granddaughter Kiri Polak and great grandson Jackson, many nieces and nephews and those not blood related but family nonetheless, ‘daughters’ Joelene (David) Ryals, Jill P Lovelace and grandchildren Alex (Ashley) Olson, Sadie Ryals, Owen Ryals, and Caitlyn Lovelace and many great grandchildren.
Cathy is preceded in death by her parents, Curtis E Widgeon and Patricia A Franklin and her husband, Gari ‘Murf” Murphy.
We are so grateful for the all the time we’ve had with you, but it wasn’t enough.
You were a loving mother, grandma, and most recently a great grandma (AKA Nana). We all love you with all our hearts and pray that you continue to watch over us through our lives.
We won’t forget how you played ‘dancing phalanges’ with Jackson, and put all the grandkids to work in the garden as soon as we could walk.
-words by Kiri, but from all our hearts.
