D. Karen Illingworth Leggon
February 6, 1952 – July 15, 2022
With heavy hearts, we regret to announce that our beloved Karen Leggon passed away unexpectedly in her home in Venice, Florida. Her warm heart and generous spirit will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Illingworth, mother, Joan Illingworth Shevalier, step-father, Richard Shevalier, and second husband, Robert Leggon. She is survived by her first husband, David Sabino, and their children, Jason Sabino (Valerie) and Christina Walton. Her brother, Gary Illingworth, twin brother, David “Rocky” Illingworth (Patty), and her grandchildren, Justin Sentell and Christian Walton.
Karen was born on February 6, 1952, in Jamestown, NY. After graduating from Southwestern Central High School in 1970, she continued her education at Jamestown Community College. She married David in 1972 and together they had two beautiful children who were the greatest joys in her life.
She loved being a mother and cherished the simple things in life with her favorite pastime being time spent with family and friends. She treasured watching Michigan State sports with her son, making dinner and watching Wheel of Fortune with her daughter, tending to her plants outdoors, and finding peace in the sound of her wind chimes. Later in life, Karen moved to Florida to be closer to her mom. She met her second husband, Robert Leggon, and made special bonds with friends and neighbors. Devoted to her family, friends, and faith, they enjoyed life by the water, full of relaxation, entertaining, and reflection as she read her Daily Word. In her words, "God is and always has been in my heart."
We will miss her kind heart, loving nature, unconditional love, and ability to always view life through rose-colored glasses.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice in Karen’s memory. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
