Born in Baltimore, MD on October 3, 1932, Evelyn was a longtime resident of the Baltimore area. She worked many years in the floral industry and volunteered for her church and local hospitals. Her most important career was her loving devotion to her husband Warren Sakers, the family they had together, and her church. She was loved dearly by many close friends and her brother and sisters. Evelyn will be remembered as one of the best preparers of meals for celebrations that ever lived. She always had her guests in mind and would stop at nothing to make sure everything was just right for everyone. She and the family had many Fourth of July parties and hosted many holiday parties to be remembered for ages. Evelyn and her family were longtime proud members of Dickeyville Memorial Presbyterian Church in Baltimore. Evelyn worked tirelessly to volunteer whenever needed at church functions. Her and Warren were the first to arrive and last to leave after cleaning. Evelyn was well known for keeping things tidy and she loved her music playing on her Bose speaker! After raising their children, Evelyn and Warren spent a few winters in Florida and had many great memories there. They also were able to celebrate many weddings of their children and grandchildren throughout New Jersey, North Carolina, and Maryland. Evelyn was amazing with children and was blessed to have many grandchildren and great-grandchildren to spend time with and spoil.. Having such an extended family was what Eveyln and Warren cherished most and was very important to them. After Warren passed away in 2010, Evelyn lived the rest of her life in their apartment and then the last few years in assisted living in Maryland and Florida.
Eveylyn’s ashes will be laid to rest at the Memorial Garden at Dickeyville Memorial Presbyterian Church sometime in the spring 2021 when it can be safely arranged.
