He was a loving husband to Joan J. Palmer (predeceased 2007), and devoted father to Allison (Charlie) Moore of Englewood Florida, Wendy (Don) Hausknecht of Gilbertsville PA. Awesome grandfather to Jordan (Amber) Moore, Valerie Moore (predeceased 2005), and Matthew and Danielle Hausknecht. Sweet great grandfather to Hazel and Brayden. He is also survived by his youngest sister Pat (Michael) Anderson, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He enjoyed summer picnics/family reunions with them for several years.
He is preceded in death by his parents Calvert and Louise Palmer, brothers Bobby and Charley, and sister Lorraine Griffith.
Frank was born in Philadelphia PA in 1929. He lived in that area most of his life. He enjoyed a long career at Honeywell as a Plant Forman and then Manager in both King of Prussia and Fort Washington PA.
He and his wife Joan moved to Florida in 1988 where they really enjoyed retired life.
In his spare time, he liked to renovate houses. His approach was a bit like his approach to life - fix it up, make it work, and if all else fails, just cover it in a coat of paint and pretend everything is fine! He could always make us laugh, seeing the funny in just about everything. We will miss his unfiltered comments, infused with his sense of humor and sarcasm.
Frank served in the US Army Air Forces where he was trained in aircraft mechanics. He became an avid pilot who built his own airplanes (3 total). He had a lifelong love of flying.
He passed away at the ripe old age of 95, and while we are sad, we know he's probably somewhere cracking jokes and flying planes through the clouds with a smile on his face. We wish you nothing but "Blue Skies and Tailwinds" up in heaven.
A private memorial service is planned.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Frank Palmer to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
