Gary Ladd

Gary Ladd, 74, of North Venice, Florida, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 4 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Venice, Florida. Gary was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, graduated from Northridge High School, and retired from General Motors Corporation after 30 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Lucille Ladd. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Patricia Ladd (Grigsby), sisters Trudy Banks (Clyde) of Dayton and Brenda Carter (Bruce) of Butler Township. Nephew Doug Banks and great-nephews Korey Snyder, Karter Snyder, Ryker Bowman, and Jordan Banks. Nieces Alicia Snyder (Scott) and Janelle Bowman (Ralph) and great-nieces Lacey Bowman, Layla Bowman, Kali Snyder and Kaydie Snyder.

Gary was a loving husband who thoroughly enjoyed life and being around his family and many friends in Dayton, Ohio, Venice, Florida and Cumberland Lake in Somerset, Kentucky. Gary was always ready to help anyone in need. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, honesty, and feisty spirit.

He spent his summers as a part-time resident at his home at Cumberland Lake. He enjoyed his wonderful view of the lake from his outside patio and also enjoyed boating and grilling out. He loved winter time in Venice, enjoying biking, swimming at the pool, beach, and playing tennis. He was an avid pilot who had his own plane and loved to fly from Ohio to Kentucky and to Florida.

Gary never met a stranger. He touched many lives and created a sense of community to family and friends He had the ability to bring people together and connect with anyone he met.

There will be a Celebration of Life Party for Gary on Friday, January 23, 2026 at the Nokomis Community Park (Main Hall) at 234 Nippino Trail E. in Nokomis. This event will be from 4:00-6:00 PM. All of Gary's friends are invited to this event to honor Gary. Snacks and beverages will be provided.

Rest in peace Gary Ladd. He will be greatly missed by so many whose lives were touched by his friendship and generosity.
