

James Roy Wolters finished his Earthly course and began his Journey on the streets of Gold on 03/01/2020. He was born in St. Joseph, MO. 10/19/1936 to Phillip Wolters and Cleo Huntsman Wolters. James, or Jim, was the eldest of 14 brothers and sisters.
Jim made a career in the Air Force as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1974. He went on to work as a Tool and Die maker at Tawas Tool Company in East Tawas, MI. where he remained until 1980. His next job was as a Truss Company Manager for Schaaf Lumber Company also in East Tawas. In 1981, Jim, along with his wife Carole, daughter Rene and dog Freckles, moved to Englewood FL. where he worked as a manager for the commercial cleaning company Clean America Corp. Jim then chose to return to school to increase his education. He rode his Kawasaki motorcycle every day while he studied refrigeration and small appliance repair at Sarasota Vo-Tech and furthered his education even more earning 2 Associates degrees in Computer Programming and Computer Science from the then Manatee Junior College. He was co- owner of a computer software company specializing in Megas products servicing mainly local physician’s offices.
In 1991, Jim was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease, receiving a kidney transplant in 1992 at Wilford Medical Hall on Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX. After his transplant, Jim went on to work for Publix, finally retiring in 2005.
Jim was a community leader and volunteer. He was engaged in many facets of his church, Abundant Life Ministries. He was involved in the Elks Club while in Michigan. He served as a committee member for his Air Force Unit in Japan's Alumni Association known as 610 Military Airlift Support Squadron ( 610 MASS) and was editor of the organizational newsletter. Jim was a Second Amendment advocate, enjoyed shooting sports and was a lifetime member of the NRA. He was a member of the NCOA and the TREA. In his later years, and because of his special bond with his granddaughter Samantha, Jim gave time to the Special Olympics and The Tim Tebow Foundation.
Jim lent a quiet strength to those who knew him. He had a quick wit and a sharp sense of humor. Jim was known to mutter nonsense about Mudrums and threatened to tie knots in our tails from time to time!!!
He is preceded in death by his mother, Cleo, father Philip, and step-mother Joanne, brother Tom (Doneva) and sister Cecelia Lee (Vance). He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Carole; son Joshua (Jennifer) of Des Moines, Iowa; daughter Rene Amos Williams (Michael) of Lakeland; daughter Janeene Jones of Ocala; granddaughter Samantha of Lakeland and grandsons Jace and Jeremy of Des Moines, Iowa.
