Born on May 28, 1981, at Copley Hospital in Morrisville, Vermont, Kris was the beloved son of Pam and Nicholas Fon Eisen. He graduated from Lamoille Union High School in 2000 and went on to attend Johnson State College, earning a double major in Psychology and Chemistry in 2007.
Kris had a lifelong love of the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing—most often catch and release—rock climbing, and camping in every season, even embracing the challenge and beauty of winter camping in Vermont. With his father serving as head of the Boy Scouts in Hyde Park, Kris was active in Scouts during his youth, an experience that deepened his appreciation for nature and self-reliance.
He also discovered a passion for creating and cooking. His first position was at Moog’s in Morrisville, and he later worked in Stowe as a sous chef at Edson Hill Manor, where he valued the opportunity to learn under the guidance of Chef Chad Hanley. Kris found joy in crafting meals and sharing them with others.
In 2016, Kris moved to Florida, primarily to help his mother, who was living alone in Venice. They quickly realized how well they worked together and how much they enjoyed one another’s company. Through life’s ups and downs, they were an integral part of each other’s daily lives. In Florida, Kris worked in lawn care, landscaping, and in building and rehabbing properties with his close friends Dan and Pete. He was a loyal and dependable friend to Dan, Pete, Kyle, and many others.
For the past three years, Kristopher’s health had been a central focus. This past year, he was diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis, a form of rheumatoid arthritis that caused significant pain and ultimately required a knee replacement. Despite these challenges, he continued to face life with determination.
Cats held a special place in Kris’s heart. He understood them in a unique way and cared for them deeply. Just three days before his passing, his beloved cat, Boogie, died—something that affected him profoundly. Among his other interests, Kris also enjoyed collecting coins.
Kris will be remembered for his love of nature, his creativity in the kitchen, his loyalty as a friend, and the deep bonds he shared with those closest to him.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at a later date and will be posted here. Interment will be at the behest of the family in Vermont.
