LaDieu Barnes, 88, passed away on March 3, 2025, in Venice, FL. He was born on May 14, 1936, in Tampa, FL to Helen (Brockell) and Lummie Barnes. LaDieu graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1956 in Tampa, FL. He joined the Navy after high school and was a medic attached to the Marine Corps from 1956-1960. Ladieu worked in sales until retirement. He met his wife, Marie Gilbert, in Tampa, FL in 1960 and were married in July of 1961.
LaDieu loved to dance and enjoyed doing his crafts of wood carving and making owls using polymer clay. He was a “people person”. He enjoyed meeting strangers and took great joy in sharing his faith. With his wife and friends, he enjoyed travels, train trips, hiking, and fellowship.
He is preceded in death by his parents Helen Weeks and Lummie LaDieu Barnes, and sister Barbara Elliott.
LaDieu is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marie Barnes, children Kevin Barnes and Michelle Barnes, and granddaughter Mallory Swafford.
