Her journey in life
A sweet peace came to Lillian on May 26, 2026.
God opens His arms to usher her into That Place from which no travelers return.
Lillian Dickens passed peacefully on May 26, 2026.
Born on May 13, 1931, in West Oak Hill, to the late Mamie and Surry Cherry, Lillian lived a life centered on family, compassion, and simple joys. At a young age, her family relocated to Montclair, New Jersey, where she later continued her education.
Lillian attended Rutgers College and pursued training in medical technology. She went on to work at Newark Beth Israel Hospital for three years, dedicating herself to caring for others through her profession.
On January 30, 1955, Lillian married Peter Wilson. Together they built a life and became the proud parents of their son, Anthony.
Lillian found happiness in life’s quieter moments. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and listening to jazz music, but above all else, she deeply loved her family and cherished time spent surrounded by them.
She leaves behind treasured memories with her nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren: Brianna, Brandon, and Brycen, along with many extended family members and loved ones who will continue to carry her memory forward.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that she has found peace and has returned home to rest.
“It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you the day God called you home.
A precious one from us is gone, a voice we loved is stilled,
A place is vacant in our hearts which can never be filled.
A heart of gold stopped beating, two smiling eyes laid to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us that He only takes the best.”
Sorrowfully submitted,
The Family
