Loretta leaves behind her children, Mary Castrovinci and her husband Anthony Franzese; Basil and Jennifer Castrovinci (nee Morgan), Matthew and Carmela Castrovinci (nee Palermo); John Castrovinci; Gina (nee Castrovinci) and Edwin Andujar; and Lori Castrovinci and her husband Edward Gorman.
She also leaves behind 11 adoring grandchildren, Basil, Sara, Lia, Antonia, Adrianna, Matthew, Christian, Gianna, Xavier, Edward, and Benjamin.
Born on May 24, 1937, to Irish immigrants John and Catherine Healy (nee Ruddy), Loretta spent much of her happy childhood growing up with her 4 siblings Mary Ellen, John, Martha and Betty Ann in New York City, New York.
Loretta moved to New Jersey and attended secondary school at the Academy of St. Aloysius in Jersey City. Following that, she attended junior college in Jersey City, and began her teaching career teaching first grade in Hoboken, New Jersey. Shortly after, Loretta was married, and began raising her 6 children.
Loretta loved making a difference in the lives of young children by teaching, for more than 50 years (and later helping her grandchildren with homework). She loved learning equally as much – finishing her degree at Montclair State University well after her children were grown. Loretta always loved crocheting, knitting, and drinking tea, but most of all - spending time with her family. She cherished her Irish heritage, listening to Irish music, and dancing any chance she could.
Beautiful both inside and out, we were blessed to have her in our lives.
A graveside service for Loretta will be held Monday, January 22, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Gulf Pines Memorial Park, 2401 Englewood Rd, Englewood, FL 34223.
