Marian Y. Jones, aged 89, departed this life on November 29, 2024, in her home in Naples, Florida. Born on July 27, 1935, in Mason, Michigan, Marian lived a life of dedication and faith, grounded in her Christian beliefs. She was the beloved daughter of Frank and Edra Klont and grew up alongside her brothers Peter and Rodney, all of whom have since passed on. In her early years, Marian's life journey led her to cross paths with Elmer Jones, whom she married in Charlotte, Michigan. Together, they embarked on a new chapter in Florida, settling initially in Venice and later making a permanent home in Sarasota. Their union, an inspiring testament to love and partnership, thrived for 54 beautiful years until Elmer’s passing.
A nurturing caregiver at heart, Marian embraced her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Venice Florida. However, her greatest joy was found within the walls of her home, nurturing and raising her four children with Elmer. As a mother, Marian was steadfastly supportive, providing a haven of warmth and love. Marian's devotion to her community was as strong as her commitment to her family. She was involved in countless volunteer activities, most notably in her role as a Scout Leader and her relentless support during elections as a poll worker. Her deep commitment to service was lovingly extended through her involvement with Pine Shores Presbyterian Church, where she was a pillar of strength and faith. One of many services Marian made to the church was spending time with someone during their illness. Rather it be in the hospital, in their home or even welcoming someone to recover in her home. Marian strived to bring happiness to all, even those simply needing company. In addition to her community service, Marian’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to co-found the Soccer Line Sporting Goods with her husband, Elmer, and son, Scott. The family venture that brought joy and service to many in the community. Her boundless compassion and genuine nature left a significant impact on everyone she encountered.
Marian confronted life's challenges with grace and resilience, including the deep losses of her husband, Elmer, and her son, Scott. Throughout it all, her steadfast faith and love for her family sustained her and inspired those around her.
Marian’s memory will continue to be cherished by her surviving children: her son Steven Jones (Janet), Stephanie Ward (Christopher), and Shari Longo, (Ricco); grandchildren Allyson Ward, Briana Jones Miller (Wes), Aaron Ward, and Joshua Longo; and great-grandchildren include Teagan Miller, Wilder Miller, and Addison Miller -who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
