Martha Jane (Brunk) Randall, who died Sept 3, 2024, the day after her 93rd birthday, was many things to the people who knew and loved her throughout her lifetime. She was a rural Indiana farmer’s daughter, her mother’s weekend picture show companion and sister to five older siblings. The first of her family to attend college, she was an inquisitive student at Ball State University and in her senior year, was selected by the Indianapolis Star to be the Cherry Blossom Princess representative to the annual national festival - a particularly revered title. Martha was a teacher by profession and by passion, sharing with students, children and grandchildren alike her firm belief that correct grammar was the key to a successful life. For her, diagraming a sentence never went out of style. Recent remembrances from friends who knew Martha from her years living in Orchard Park, NY and Boca Grande, FL, describe her as: classy, elegant, kind, witty, creative, intelligent, a sly prankster with a memorable laugh, a thoughtful neighbor and a steadfast friend.
Martha was the adored wife of (the late) Lyman Randall, mother of Tamara Smith (Daniel), Bradford Randall (Allyson) and Kristin Burrello (Jotham), “Granny M” to nine grandchildren and goddess divine to her many beloved feline companions.
A memorial service for Martha will be held at 11am on Sat Jan 11, 2025, The Lighthouse Methodist Church, 325 3rd St, Boca Grande, FL. All are invited to attend.
