Michael Louis Schuster, 73, of Venice, Florida, died on December 22, 2020, after a short illness and hospitalization. He is survived by his wife of nearly 47 years, Jody; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Christa Schuster of Slingerlands, New York; his daughter, Andrea Schuster of Corvallis, Oregon; his daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Austin Munn of Benicia, California; and 5 grandsons: Michael, Joseph, and Thomas Schuster; and Edward and William Munn.
Michael was born in Omaha, Nebraska, to Michael and Frances (Yelinek) Schuster on July 16, 1947. An only child, Michael was close to his cousins and extended family throughout Nebraska. After attending Creighton Preparatory School, Michael attended and graduated from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln with a Bachelor’s of Engineering and Master’s of Business Administration.
After finishing his schooling, Michael moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin, to work for Procter & Gamble. It was in Green Bay that he met his beloved wife, married on January 12, 1974, and started his family. The Schusters moved from Green Bay to Cincinnati, Ohio, and then Iowa City, Iowa, where Michael eventually retired from Procter & Gamble.
Throughout his life, Michael gave so much more than he ever took. From driving his kids across the country for school or relocations, dedicating himself to the care of his mother at the end of her life, or planning trips to ensure that the family never went too long without getting together, his priorities placed the needs of others far beyond his own. He and Jody enjoyed traveling the country to see their kids and grandkids and to share in their experiences.
Michael always loved spending time in Northern Wisconsin, especially when he was surrounded by family. It will always give us comfort to picture him peaceful and happy on a boat, with his faithful dog, Buddy, by his side. His final resting place will be in Wisconsin, and services will be scheduled for summer of this year once circumstances allow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Michael’s honor to the following charitable organizations:
