After a long distance courtship and a letter of proposal, eighteen year-old Nancy Buckingham bravely boarded a train by herself in Columbus, Ohio. She was met by Bill as she departed her train in Sarasota, Florida and two sweethearts were happily married soon after.
William Davis wed Nancy Buckingham September 9, 1961. The couple resided in Englewood,Florida for the next sixty years. They would shared a lifetime of love and dedication to each other, their four children and four grandchildren. The story of their chance meeting and immediate love was one they enjoyed sharing throughout the years. They continued to go on “dates” regularly until she passed. Whether cruising to the beach or visiting all of the beautiful local “looking spots”, they found joy together as they watched their little town grow and change over the many years.
Nancy often claimed her greatest accomplishment was that of the love she shared with her children and grandchildren. She was happiest in her home which was always filled with laughter, music and immense love.
