

Robert Marini of Boca Grande, Florida and South Weymouth, Massachusetts passed away on January 1, 2026 in Englewood, Florida. He was born September 29, 1931 in Quincy, Massachusetts to Millie (Cirillo) and Larry Marini. He was the youngest of three sons, including the late Daniel J and Francis L Marini. Married 38 years to his late wife Myrna (Pellegrini) and 31 years to his wife Beatrice Anne (Jones.) Loving father to Debra Hargrave (Charles), Robert Marini, Jr (Sandra), Larry Marini (Bonnie). Loving grandfather to 8 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Robert received his BS degree (with honors) from Northeastern University in Civil Engineering in 1954 and he received his MS degree from Harvard University in 1955. He also received his diploma from Harvard Business School for completing the Advanced Management Program in 1985 and his Honorary Doctorate of Engineering from Northeastern University in 1997.
In 1955, he joined Camp Dresser & McKee (CDM), a consulting environmental engineering firm in Boston, as their 18th employee. After six months he entered the US Army for two years where he served as a 1st Lieutenant and Post Sanitary Engineer at Fort Lewis, Washington. In 1958, he returned to CDM where he practiced until his retirement in 2001, with over 4000 employees.
He played an active role in the CDM organization for more than 40 years. In 1967, he became the youngest partner and served as president of CDM’s Environmental Engineering Division from 1977 to 1982. In 1982, he was elected Executive VP. In 1984, he was elected President. In 1989, he was elected Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. In 1999 he retired as Chairman of the Board and became a consultant to the firm until 2001.
At the peak of his career, he was registered as a professional engineer in 21 states. In 1991, he was elected to the National Academy of Engineers and Phi Kappa Phi.
He served on Northeastern University’s Board of Trustees from 1989 until 2003. He was Vice President from 1997 – 2003. He received the W. Erwin Story Award (1991), Outstanding Civil Engineering Alumnus Award (1992), and Outstanding Alumni Award, Science and Technology (1993). He was a diplomate of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists.

He also served on the following Boards:

• Board of Directors South Shore Savings Bank
• Boca Grande Homeowners Association
• Gasparilla Island Water Authority
He is preceded in death by his wife Myrna (1994) and his son-in-law Charles Hargrave (2015)
