Stan was born on June 19, 1954 to Dr. F. Oland and Mary Garrison of Demorest, Georgia. He was a graduate of Habersham Central High School and The University of Georgia.
After college, Stan worked in Atlanta with the Georgia Department of Industry and Trade, bringing new companies from international locations to his home state. He then spent more than 30 years as a business development executive. He was a corporate finance partner with Ernst & Young, leading its private equity practice and cross-border mergers and acquisitions. He also worked for over ten years with KPMG, spending several years in its London office supporting European clients with U.S. investments. He won awards for new client engagement in his later work with several business strategy firms, eventually founding his own company, Horizon Performance LLC.
Following a successful consulting career, Stan and his wife Linda retired to Englewood, Florida.
Stan was an avid golfer and loved traveling and working with his hands. He could remodel and repair almost anything and completed many beautiful remodeling projects in his Atlanta, Tennessee and Englewood homes. He also loved boating, spending time at the beach and taking his wife and their beloved dog, Max, for rides in his convertible, making sure Max was outfitted appropriately in hat and sunglasses.
He loved his family and had been the primary caretaker of his parents before their deaths in an Atlanta retirement community. He was also devoted to his wife’s mother and her family.
Besides his wife Linda, Stan is survived by his son Christopher Garrison (Rhianna) and grandson Kieran of Roswell, GA, his daughter Kelly Lynn Johnson of Warner Robbins, GA; two sisters: Susanne Hoder (John) of Punta Gorda, Florida and Sandra Reyna (Darryl) of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; three nephews, a niece, aunts, an uncle, and cousins. He was an adored grandfather to Linda’s grandchildren Ethan, Maren, Olivia, Bella, Beau and Elliot. He was very much loved and will be greatly missed.
Stan was also a person of deep faith. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 27th, at 11:00 a.m. in Doan Chapel at Englewood Methodist Church, 700 E Dearborn St, Englewood, FL, with the chapel open for viewing at 10:00 a.m. before the service. A reception will follow the interment.
