Alan Frederick Brummer, 63, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014, following a sudden heart attack. He was born on July 10, 1950. A loving and devoted father, Alan is survived by sons, Blane Brummer and Nick Woodward; daughter, Veronica Smith; son-in-law, Travis Smith; former wife/best friend, Lura Brummer; two grandchildren, Bailey and Austin; and sister and brother-in-law Carrie and Val Rich.
His passions were family, art and gardening. Alan was a devoted father and genuine friend.
When he wasn't busy taking care of his loved ones, he would work on his next masterpiece. Alan saw art in absolutely everything, especially in the most unexpected of places. All God’s wonders were Alan’s canvas. He once wrote, "Nature fascinates me; things that many people miss or are too busy to see intrigue me. I love and marvel at the textures and shapes that becomes God's little jewels and hidden treasures."
With a deep fondness of horticulture and cooking, he delighted in combining the two by creating meals using herbs and vegetables grown in his beloved garden.
Alan believed all humor should be good-natured. He took pleasure in inserting light hearted jokes into his conversations. Alan’s quick wit, quirky humor and old-fashioned sensibilities not only made those around him laugh, but just made you feel good.
He planned to retire and move up to Oregon to be close to his sister’s family. Alan was looking forward to a slower way of life and to surround himself with nature. But the Lord had other plans. His wishes were granted in the grandest fashion and he's surrounded by more beauty than ever imagined. Alan has rejoined his beloved parents who preceded him, Albert and Doris Brummer.
