Alice J. Buckley, a native of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away suddenly July 7, 2013 at 74 years 11 months old. Alice was born August 29, 1938 to Darrell and Alice (Wagner) Amundson. She has been a resident of Ventura for 28 years, moving from Orange County.
Alice was a licensed vocational nurse. She worked in many hospitals and convalescent facilities for the past 38 years. She was compassionate and loving to all those she cared for. Alice’s passion was for football, and could hardly wait for the season to begin. She was a dedicated member of Bethany Chapel Assembly of God Church in Oxnard. She was involved in all aspects of church life from teaching Sunday school, studying the Bible, knitting for an orphanage, and participating as a “prayer warrior” for a nationwide prayer chain. Alice always said to be absent from the body is to be in the arms of Jesus and never feared death. She accepted death long before it washer time to die. For her, it meant getting a new body.
Alice is survived by her children, Connie Louise Morgan of Cabazon, Roger (Beverly) Lambert of Huntington Beach, Johnathan (Letty) Cantalupo of Oxnard; step-son David Lambert of Anaheim; siblings, Carol (Armando) Ramos of Ventura and Warren (Ulrike) Anderson of Nora Springs, Iowa; five grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.
A celebration of Alice’s life will be held Monday, July 15, 2013 at 10 A.M. at her church, Bethany Chapel Assembly of God, 1076 E Stroube St., Oxnard, with Pastor Mark Terry and Pastor Don Crouse officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura. Condolences may be left at TedMayrFuneralHome.com.
