Alvin Clifford Davis

Alvin “Al” Davis passed away peacefully on May 12, 2016, at the age of 91. Al was born February 26, 1925 in La Habra, California. After attending Valencia High School in Placentia, California, he served in The United States Navy, witnessing most of the amphibious landings in the Pacific theater during World War II.

After the war, Al went to work in the oil industry and married Nell Abney in 1947. They settled in Orange County to raise a family before moving to Ventura County in 1979. Al enjoyed camping with his RV club, deep sea fishing, shooting, boating and woodworking.

Al was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Nell and daughter, Susan DeHut.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-laws, Mark S. and Therese Davis of Ventura, CA, Timothy A. and Cyndie Davis of Apple Valley, CA and Andrew M. and Marcia Davis of Lancaster, CA; and grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Dr. James Sands and staff for all the loving care given over the years and the In-Home Assistance by Robert, Mian, Dilys and Walter who cared for Dad all these years.

A Celebration of Al's Life will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016, 10:00 am, at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, in Ventura. All are invited to the reception back at the family home following the service.

A graveside service will take place on Saturday, May 28, 2016, 11:00 am, at Rose Hills Memorial Park, in Whittier, CA.
