Barbara O'Leary

Barbara O'Leary, a longtime resident of Hueneme Bay and Oxnard, died Tuesday, August 30, 2011. She was born and raised in the Santa Monica area prior to meeting and marrying husband James J. O'Leary. They moved about the country following Jim's military career. Barbara was a dedicated mother, raising their four children, alone with the children for many months at a time during Jim's deployments. She tirelessly and courageously did her part watching over the family.

Jim and Barbara finally settled in Oxnard where she devoted many hours of her time to parish and school activities. She continued to volunteer her time well into herlater years, visiting the sick and delivering meals to elderly residents. She was also a docent at the Heritage Square.

Barbara always placed her family first. She generously gave them many cherished memories. She was employed at the State Employment Development Department in Oxnard for 25 years. She enjoyed reading, sewing and cooking.

She is survivied by her three sons, James, Michael and Terry, and daughter, Kathleen. Their spouses include Katrin, Janet, and Reginald. She had eight grandchildren; Brian, Carey, Patrick, Kaitlin, Kailee, James, Roth and Garrett; and two great-grandchildren; Emmagene and Lilliana, all of whom brought her joy and happiness.

Services will be held at a Memorial Mass at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 9, 2011 at Saint Anthony Church in Oxnard.
