

Carolyn met the love of her life, H. Jack Nerdrum in 1954 at the University of Arizona, and wed the very next year. Jack moved her to California where they eventually settled in Ventura. They were married for nearly 60 years when unexpectedly Jack passed away in 2014.
Carolyn loved to figure skate in her youth and enjoyed watching the Olympic ice-skate competitions. She also enjoyed watching college football and hockey. As a youth she liked to sing in the church choir as a youth.
Carolyn went back to college after raising her four children, and received her degree in nursing from Ventura College. After retiring as a registered nurse from Community Memorial Hospital, she and Jack traveled extensively. They also engaged in activities such as, sailboat racing as members of both Santa Barbara Yacht Club, and Anacapa Yacht Club. She grew orchids and won several blue ribbon events, as a member of The Ventura County Orchid Club Society. She enjoyed participating in gleaning fruits and vegetables to feed the hungry, sponsored by Food Shares. She was also a huge history buff and took pictures on all of her travels, which she shared through slide shows with Santa Paula Armchair Travelers.
Her sons survive Carolyn; Jay Nerdrum (Karen) of Champaign, Ill., Eric Nerdrum (Nanci) of Kaysville, Utah; and daughters, Stephanie Ivans of Ventura, California, and Tamara Nerdrum (Farooq Ali) of Ventura, California; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren survive her.
