Kodi, 

What sweet and enduring memories Dave left everywhere he lived or went. I served with him two years as a RA, then eventually became his professor and faculty advisor as he finished his MA. Over those years we had incredible conversations. I never left without a deep sense of David's love for Christ and people. 

I remember when he first started talking about God giving him you, and then you both another son. He was so grateful for God's kindness to him. You were the joy of his life outside of Christ.

Caring, genuine, funny, balanced, sensitive. Looked out for the underdog, led with mercy, loyal friend. Passionate about worship, committed to Christ, responsible with the Gospel. Just a few of the many words that describe your dear husband and your children's Daddy.

Until that day...

Kodi,
Dave was one of the head RA's at the time I attended BBC. He met with me when I had all my, "secular music" confiscated. He gave it all back to me and told me that it needed to be my conviction and not one that was forced on me by others. I had never experienced kindness and grace by another Christian with authority before in my life. That moved me in a way I never forgot. I left that day having mad respect for him. I can't wait to tell him in person when I see him in Heaven.

My heart is so very heavy for you, Kodi,  and your children. Humanly speaking, I just can’t understand such a terrible loss.  I served as a faculty member at BBC and also attended Baptist Temple along with David.   He served the Lord with great joy and made a difference in many lives through his gifts of music, teaching and kindness. Prayers for all your family. 

Kodi and family, Though I’ve never met you, my heart is saddened for you over this loss. I was in the BBC singing team STEP (Student Training Evangelism  Program) with David.  Sometimes I called him my “Step” brother. He could always make us laugh with his quick wit. So many fun memories. David’s love for God was very evident. He made a point to share God with as many people as possible on STEP team trips. On one trip David started to get back into the van after a snack stop, but then turned and rushed back into the store. He had met someone in the store and later told us,  “l had forgot to talk to them about God, so I needed to go back in.” I’ll never forget that day. He had such a great testimony.  I’m sending your family my heartfelt sympathies, and pray you will experience God’s peace and comfort during this time.

God, in His sovereignty, chose many from Liberty University Online to feel the impact of Dave’s life. I had the opportunity to choose Dave to be part of my team. As his supervisor, I would marvel at the ease in which he could build rapport over the phone. I am truly a better person for knowing Dave. His warm smile and demeanor were infectious and genuine; anyone could easily discern his care was sincere. Through sarcasm and wit, he would disengage difficult situations. He cared deeply for his family and for serving his LORD!
Kodi while we never met, Dave spoke fondly and often of you and your children. I lift the family in prayers of comfort and support. We know Dave stepped into eternity seeing the face of his LORD; that knowledge is a source of security and strength to those hurting in this time of loss. 

David and I met in college in the cafeteria, we found out that we had the same middle name. I was a freshman and had never seen snow,  being that I’m from Florida. David, Jeremy and I went to the golf course after a heavy snow and built snowmen, the biggest snowball ever and of course... then joined in on the best snowball fight ever! We then walked to Waffle House to drink hot  chocolate  and eat waffles...what great memories! 

My favorite memories was hearing him sing at BT, in quartets, college group, Christmas specials. He helped lead others to worship God and was an amazing person who loved the Lord! 

Praying for you Kodi and family as you seek Gods peace to help you with the loss of a wonderful man!
