

Floyd Gail Smith, 80, of Ventura, went to be with the Lord, his beloved wife, Geraldine, and faithful dog Duke, on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, following a short illness. Floyd was born at home in Ninnekah, Oklahoma on April 20, 1934. He was the fourth child of six born to Audory and Leonard Smith. His family came to California in 1941 and first settled in Chino. He moved to Ventura in 1958 and has been a resident ever since.
He had been a carpenter for over 40 years. Floyd was an avid hunter and fisherman. His favorite place to fish was the Kern River in Kernville, CA. Floyd enjoyed playing his guitar, harmonica, and singing western and gospel songs, many he wrote himself.
Floyd is survived by his daughter, Cheryl; granddaughter, Lindsey; son, Terry; grandson, Kelli; brother, Dale; sisters, Gusta, Peggy, Carolynn, and his eldest sister, Betty who preceded him in death by three weeks; and many loving nephews and nieces. Floyd will be greatly missed by those who loved and knew him.
A graveside service will take place on Monday, December 29, 2014, 12 Noon, at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Road, Ventura.
