Frankie was born in Oxnard, California to Frank and Eugenia Ortiz. He graduated in 1973 from Channel Islands High School where he played baseball and developed many lifelong friendships.
He worked for his family trucking business, Ortiz Brothers Trucking, Inc. for 38 years and later Ortiz Transportation, Inc. as both a driver and dispatcher. His love of trucks began at an early age. It was not uncommon for Frankie to ride his bike from his home in Oxnard to the truck yard in Saticoy.
He married Esther (Jeannie) Chaparro in 1979, and together they raised three children. Frankie’s greatest joy came from the many years of coaching his son at Saticoy Little League, VYBA, and high school sports and watching his daughters many travel and high school soccer games. He was lucky to have the pleasure of meeting many of his wonderful friends through his children’s activities.
Frankie found great pleasure in barbequing for family and friends, his annual camping trip to the beach, enjoyable trips to the family lake house at Lake Nacimento and was an avid Dodger and Lakers’ fan.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannie; son, Frank (Ponch) Ortiz III; daughters, Francesca and Amanda Ortiz, parents Frank and Eugenia Ortiz; sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Dennis McMurray, Corrinne and Bill Leonardo, Dianne Ortiz and T.C. Clay; brother and sister-in-law Tim and Lisa Ortiz; Grandmother Felipa Gonzales; Ponch’s girlfriend, Heidi McQuitty; numerous supportive in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his Grandparents Crescencio & Bartola Ortiz, Grandfather Calletano Gonzales, and Mother-in-law Adela N. Chaparro.
The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses at CMH ICU and staff at BMA Fresenius Dialysis Unit in Camarillo along with his regular doctors for their compassionate medical care during this difficult time.
Memorial donations may be made in honor of Frankie and his search in help to finding a way to cure Diabetes.
