

Irene L. Kam went to be with the Lord, with her family at her side, on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, in Ventura, at the age of 81. She was a longtime Ventura resident and will be truly missed by the many people whose lives she touched with her caring nature and precious smile.
Irene was born on the island of Koufonissi in Greece to Michael and Sofia Loudarou on September 8, 1929. She and John H. Kam were married in Greece in 1962 and enjoyed a happy and wonderful life together, starting in Germany, where John was stationed with the United States Air Force. Together, they raised their children, Sofia and John, and lived throughout the United States as a military family. Irene loved her family with deep devotion and was always the pillar of strength and dignity throughout her lifetime. She was a proud American who lived a beautiful life and cherished the many lasting friendships she and her family made throughout the country.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Sofia Loudarou; her husband, John H. Kam, USAF (Ret.), and her granddaughter, Irena A. Santoli. She is survived by her daughter, Sofia M. Kam Santoli (Giuseppe) and her son, John A. Kam; and the great joy in her life, grandson Joseph A. Santoli, all of Ventura; sisters Georgia, Maria (Kostas) and Elefteria, and brother Lefteris (Ioanna), nieces Sofia and Vasiliki, three grandnephews and one grandniece, all of Greece.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, followed by a Greek Orthodox Trisagion at 7 p.m. at Charles Carroll Funeral Home, 15 Teloma Drive, Ventura. A funeral service and celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1 at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 400 Skyway Drive, Camarillo. Graveside services will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Road, Ventura.
