

Jack Edward Simpson, age 63, died Saturday, May 12, 2012, following a heart attack. Jack was born June 5, 1948, in Glendale, California, to Kathryn and Hulon Simpson. He was the youngest and last surviving member of his five brothers, Robert, Walter, William, and Hulon “Uncle Fred”.
Jack is survived by his wife of 39 years, Donna Simpson of San Fernando and three children, daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Danny Richardson of Brentwood, son and daughter-in-law, Jack, Jr. and Randi Simpson of Valencia, son, Bobby Serrano of San Fernando ; sisters-in-law, Mary Simpson of Ventura, Cathy Simpson of Yuba City and Elizabeth Tull-Simpson of Ventura. He also leaves behind his two wonderful grandchildren Andrew and Meghan Richardson of Brentwood, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jack is a veteran of the Vietnam War, a former race car driver, and friend of many. Formerly known as “CJ”, Crazy Jack was highly competitive and raced with stars such as Cal Yarborough¸ Benny Parsons, Richard Childress, and Richard Petty. Even after leaving the racing circuit he still had a love of speed and in the last few years became an avid off-road enthusiast. His last day was spent zooming around the desert at over 90mph, having a great time.
Jack was a driver for twenty-four years with the Los Angeles County Department of Water and Power, retiring for health reasons in 2009.
A viewing will take place Thursday, May 17th at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura, 4:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M.
Services will be held Friday, May 18th, 11:00 A.M., at Church of the Nazarene, 365 South Seaward Ave., Ventura, with The Reverend Dan Hull officiating. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Road, Ventura. Military Honors will be rendered by The United States Army.
