Jessica Lorraine Hostetter 77, went to be with the Lord on December 4, 2012. She passed peacefully at home with family by her side in Bakersfield, California after a brief illness. Born October 5, 1935 at home in Harrison, Arkansas to Lee Owen Hayes and Nova Lorene Nelson.
Mom and her family moved to Oxnard, California when she was about 5 years old. Mom graduated from Oxnard High School and met and married Lloyd Hostetter a short time later. They had three children, David, Terry & Tommy. Mom & Dad started moving several times in 1970 spending time in Tacoma, Eureka, and Klamath Falls. Eventually they settled in the Auburn, California area in 1975. That is where Mom spent the remainder of her life. Mom and Dad divorced in 1992.
Mom is very active in her Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She taught many classes over the years from children to adults. Mom is an amazing woman - her radiant red hair, sparkling blue eyes and warm generous smile always lit up a room. She is kind and always provided positive encouragement and praise to family and friends. Mom loved to travel, spend time with family and friends - especially her grandbabies and great-grandbabies, and absolutely loved thrift shopping for collectibles and treasures. We will miss her until we meet again.
She is preceded to heaven by her Dad and Mom, Lee and Nova Hayes, her sister, Betty Jo Rosmovich, and brother, Frank Hayes.
She is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-laws, David and Deanna Hostetter of Bakersfield, CA and Tom and Judi Hostetter of Folsom, CA, and daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Chuck Nelson of Truckee, CA. Her sisters and brother-in-law, Jean Lister of Oxnard, CA and Jackie and Wally Prichard of Alwahnee, CA, and brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Barbara Hayes of Ventura, CA. Ten grandchildren - many of whom are red-heads, sixteen great-grandchildren - also quite a number of red heads, and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home located at 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura, California. Burial services will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park located at 5400 Valentine Road, Ventura.
