Jolene Mae Peacocke, 78, of Ventura, California passed away August 13, 2016, at Community Memorial Hospital. The daughter of Loretta and Aubrey Tibbels, Jolene was born February 20, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri, and grew up in Federal Way, Washington. After graduating from Federal Way High School in 1956, Jolene attended Sawyer Business School and moved to California where she married and had three children.
After several years as a Superior Court clerk for Ventura County, Jolene received her configuration management certificate and changed careers, working as a Project Management Analyst providing logistics and configuration management support for various programs at the Pacific Missile Test Center for over 20 years.
Jolene lived a full and active life and gave much of her time to others. As a cancer survivor, Jolene volunteered with the Auxiliary Volunteers of Community Memorial Hospital and often participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events. A love of reading led Jolene to volunteer with the READ Adult Literacy program for several years. She was also an enthusiastic supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project and often visited the Veterans Home of California in Ventura. Music was another lifelong passion and playing her piano brought her much joy.
Jolene dedicated her life to Christ and attended Trinity Lutheran Church and Ventura Missionary Church, in Ventura. A woman of strong faith, she loved to read and study her Bible, praying for, and with, others regularly. She worked hard to make her house a home and shared it with others, giving her family and friends special holidays to remember.
She is survived by three children, Alexis Cornell, Amy Cornell, and Sean Cornell, their spouses; and four grandchildren, Seth, Tessa, Aidan and Serena. She is also survived by her two siblings, Joanne Wilson and Larry Tibbels, their spouses, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Ventura Missionary Church, 500 High Point Drive, in Ventura, on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. The family welcomes all friends and family to attend.
