Jon Alan Fuller, suffered a heart attack on Saturday, October 19, 2013, then passed on to a greater place on Saturday, October 26, 2013, after one week in the hospital. He passed away at CMH in Ventura, which was the same hospital he was born at 56 years previously on March 2, 1957.
He is survived by his son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter, brother, sister, and other family members near and far. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and one of his brothers.
Jon was a funny, passionate, and generous man whom many saw as a brother, father, friend, or protector. He and his brothers were legendary for their martial arts skills throughout the 1970’s and 80’s, especially in the Ojai Valley where the police department called on them to help train at-risk teens and keep them off the streets. When it came to martial arts and other sports, Jon was known as the best of the best.
Jon also took up the masonry trade in his late teens, which was his chosen profession from that time on. He excelled as an artist with a trowel. His creativity also branched into sketching, guitar playing, and writing. There are many who can attest that Jon Fuller could have been just about anything that he wanted to be in life.
Several years ago began what close family and friends might call Jon’s “golden years”. He reunited with his son and other family and friends in Ventura. They shared an abundance of good times, laughs, and deep moments of growth together. Many of them were part of the same church as Jon was.
Jon got to see his first grandchild come into this world on March 4, 2012, two days after his 55th birthday. This was a crowning moment for him. His legacy of immense potential, passion, and creativity would continue on through the generations. He was a tremendous grandpa for the short time he got to be. He is greatly missed and mourned. We will never meet another like him.
A funeral service will be held this Monday, November 4, 2013, 2:00pm, at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Road, Ventura. All family and friends are invited.
