Kanishka Lal

Kanishka Lal was found unconscious on Friday morning April 1 at home. He passed away without regaining consciousness on April 3, 2016 in Ojai Community Hospital, Ojai, CA. He was father of Sahaja James (Sarah) Lal, Portland, Oregon and Sarva Thomas Lal, Ojai, Ca; grandfather of Orion and Hector. He was brother to my late older brother Ashok (died 2009), Ruby and me, Anshoo Lal. He is survived by niece Sita Om (Hawaii), and nephews Vishnu Om (Hawaii), and Jai Gabe(California). We will all miss him. I will miss him every day because I was in touch with him almost every day. I could talk to him about anything, and whether I was right or wrong, he always supported me. Life without him will not be same. I will miss him more than words can say. He was a naturopathic physician, and he called me Tuesday to tell me what remedies my husband Dennis needed, that he was taking something himself, and on Wednesday he told me that he forgot to tell me that he lost his balance while walking, and he scraped his forehead. but he will be careful and go see a holistic MD in Ojai. Next day my nephew left a message from by brothers cell phone, and when I called back, my brother answered and he told me that he was okay, but tired and going back to sleep. He said that his son was unnecessarily worried. When I called in the evening, he answered again, and said he was still sleepy, and when I asked to speak to my nephew he said he did not know where his son was and that he will call me later. Dennis and I called Sunday Morning and told him that we loved him.

Kanishka was cremated on Thursday April 14, 2016, and his ashes will be dispersed at a later date.

He was born in Roorkee India in 1951 to Ron Lal( aka Raghuvendra Lal Bhatnagar (died in 2003)) and Rani Lal (aka Savitri Rani Bhatnagar (died in 2000)). He came to US in 1967 and completed HS at Niskayuna HS, Niskayuna, New York. He completed his undergraduate degree in Physics/ Psychology in 1970s and MSW from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey in 1980s. He worked as a social worker for 20 years, and then started his online business. While working full time, he studied naturopathy with Dr. Luc De Schepper. Mary (died 2006) and Kanishka married in 1988, had two sons and moved from New Jersey to Ojai, California in 2003.
