Kevin Michael Illig

Kevin Michael Illig went to be with his Savior and King on Sunday, November 12, 2017, from complications from Multiple Myeloma. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends. “We know that we will see Kevin again whole, with no pain and no more cancer.”

Kevin was born on June 24, 1965, in Oxnard, California to Michael Leroy Illig and Wanda Grayce (Chilcote) Illig. He grew up in Oxnard and graduated in 1983 from Port Hueneme High School. Kevin attended DeVry Institute of Technology in Phoenix, Arizona, as well as Oxnard College, Ventura College and Channel Islands University where he was part of a kinetic team.

Kevin married Stacy Welch on April 6, 1991, and on July 17, 1991 he was blessed with a son, Zachary Michael. On November 5, 1994, his gift from God was born, Kathryn Grayce.

He was a faithful member of The River Community Church and was affectionately called “Uncle Kevin.” Kevin loved being around people and would attend many of the Ventura Chamber of Commerce Breakfasts’ representing The River Community Church. He recently decided to join the Chambers Toastmasters Club.

Kevin is survived by wife, Stacy; son, Zachary; daughter, Kathryn all of Ventura; father and mother, Michael and Wanda Illig of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; brother, Kendall Illig of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; mother-in-law, Linda Welch of Santa Paula; brother-in-law, Brian Welch and family of Santa Paula; sister-in-law, Cherri Welch and family of Phoenix, Arizona; brother from another mother, Jack Lee of Oxnard.

A Celebration of Kevin’s life will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017, 10:00 am, at The River Community Church, 859 East Santa Clara Street, in Ventura. He will be laid to rest on Monday, November 20, 2017,11:00 am, at Santa Paula Cemetery, 380 Cemetery Road, in Santa Paula.
