The love of Ladislado’s life was Anita Alaniz Alvarez, to whom he was married for over 60 years. Together they raised their children, eventually settling in Ventura County.
He is survived by his children, Terry Alvarez; Dorothy Porras (Phil Porras); Anita Villegas (Albert Villegas); Ladis Alvarez (Cindy Alvarez); Robert Alvarez (Rosie Alvarez); Linda Smith (Chris Smith); JoAnn Alvarez (Javier Marquez); Janet Alvarez; Also survived by many grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; brother, Arnie Alvarez (Anna Alvarez); sister, Anna Garcia; and sister-in-law, Esther Alvarez.
Ladislado was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Anita, in 2006. Additionally, he was predeceased by his grandchildren Albert Villegas Jr., Darlene Alvarez, Darryl Alvarez and great granddaughter Tara Ontiveros.
Ladislado was a member of Local 585 Laborer’s Union from May 1944 until his retirement in January 1971. Some of his hobbies were working on cars, fiddling with the lawn mower, and trimming the hedges. He was able to spend more time with his family, camping, trips to Las Vegas (too many to count), and watching baseball. It was not uncommon to see Ladislado ‘sporting’ his Dodger cap, as he loved ‘his Dodgers.’ After years of retirement, at the age of 100, Ladislado’s trips to Vegas began to ‘slow down,’ which resulted in weekly visits to Chumash Casino. Ladislado enjoyed life to the fullest, and he often expressed his gratitude for having lived such a blessed life.
Ladislado’s funny, feisty, and witty personality was loved by many. He will be missed greatly! We were blessed to have him in our lives.
