Lillian Adams

She was born September 16, 1915 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Conrad and Anna Marie Leinweber. She had two sisters and one brother.

In 1936, she made her home in the Manhattan Beach, CA area. Within a year she married her first husband, Robert Briggs. They had six children together. Sadly Robert passed away in 1962.

In 1983, Lillian married Kenneth “Bud” Adams, and in 1985 they purchased a home in Ojai adjacent to Lillian’s only daughter, Nancy. The simple wood and chain link gates were so much more than a way to connect the properties; it was a pathway that provided Lillian the care and support she needed to live out her long life in the peace and comfort of her own home.

Lillian was a 57 year member with Order of the Eastern Star, Channel Islands Chapter, #78 and a recipient of the distinguished Rob Morris Service Award.

She enjoyed simple pleasures: rooting for her favorite NASCAR driver Jimmy Johnson and watching every episode of Dancing with the Stars, commenting about the cute male dancers.

Lillian’s true love was always her family. She treasured watching her grand- and great-grandchildren grow when they would come to visit her. One way she would show her love was through cooking. Lillian’s homemade chili beans, mac-n-cheese or tacos were all amazing, but her meatloaf and fresh made spaghetti sauce were legendary.

She was preceded in death by all of her siblings, both of her husband’s; and two of her sons, Robert Briggs, Jr. and Frank Briggs.

Left to honor Lillian and remember her love is her daughter, Nancy Nordstrom (Chuck); and her sons, Ronald Briggs (Dottie), James Briggs (Rhonda) and Howard Briggs; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A visitation will take place on Thursday, July 9, 2015, from 4pm until 7 pm, at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura.

Interment for Lillian will be at Inglewood Park Cemetery on a future date.
