Louise Shelton

Louise Shelton, 84, longtime Ojai resident, passed into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on September 21, 2011, after bravely fighting cancer for two long months. She was at home surrounded by her family.

Louise was born on July 31, 1927 to Luch and Leona Frachiseur in Arkansas. She was raised in Oklahoma with her 6 sisters and one brother. She married her husband of 64 years, Kenneth Shelton, there is January of 1947. They moved that same year to California where she soon began her family of four children; one of whom a son, Perry Trent Shelton, preceded her in death.

Louise was a member of First Baptist Church of Ojai for 56 years. She enjoyed reading, growing flowers, especially roses, collecting butterfly keepsakes and traveling to visit family. Her life was devoted to her faith and her family.

Louise is survived by husband Kenneth Shelton of Ojai, son Rusty Shelton of Harbor, Oregon; son and daughter-in-law Terry and Brandi Shelton of Auberry, CA; daughter Carole Lynn of Ojai; sister and brother-in-law, Dixie & Jim Lyons of Madera, CA; 17 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Her family will miss her terribly.

Viewing will take place at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura on Friday, September 30, 2011, 4pm until 8pm. Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Ojai, 930 Grand Avenue, on Saturday, October 1st, 11am. A small graveside gathering will be held at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park on Monday, October 3, 2011, 10:00 A.M.
