Manuel B. Ortiz

Lifelong Ventura County resident, Manuel B. Ortiz, 85, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012, following a brief illness. Mr. Ortiz was born January 1, 1927 in Fillmore to Crescencio Miranda and Bartola Banuelos Ortiz.

Mr. Ortiz and his brothers were the founding partners of Ortiz Brothers Trucking, Inc. He remained in that business for 55 years, serving as president for 53 years.

He and his three brothers also formed 4B Industries in 1977.

Mr. Ortiz attended Sacred Heart Church. He enjoyed the outdoors on many camping trips as well as spending many enjoyable hours in his yard gardening. Some of his happiest days were spent with his children, family and friends at the Ortiz Ranches. Manuel will be remembered for his hard work ethic, his patience, sence of humor and positive attitude.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be deeply missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie O. and Jerry Mejia of Ventura; son and daughter-in-law, Manuel R. and Lucy S. Ortiz of Ventura grandsons, Jerry O. Mejia and Robert M. Mejia of Ventura; granddaughter, Andrea S. Ortiz of Ventura; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank B. and Eugenia Ortiz, John B. and Rosario Ortiz, Leonard B. and Lupe Ortiz and Eddie and Margi Ortiz; sister-in-law, Lupe V. Ortiz as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen R. Ortiz in 2004; brothers, Joe B. Ortiz and Patrick B. Ortiz; sisters, Jenny Loranzana, Antonia Casas and Sally O. Baca.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 17, 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, July 17, 7:00 P.M. also at the funeral home.

Funeral Mass will take place Wednesday, July 18, 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church, 10800 Henderson Road, Ventura. Burial will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery, Oxnard.
