Mildred S. Valentine

Mildred was a resident of Ventura most of her life, except for 34 years in Glendale where she lived with her first husband. After he passed away, she moved back to Ventura to be with her family. Mildred grew up on her parent’s ranch in Saticoy, she graduated from Ventura High School and Ventura College.

A homemaker for nearly 70 years, Mildred loved her family, church activities, and playing the piano. She was also an avid pinochle and bridge player; and enjoyed travelling in her younger years.

Mildred was preceded in death by her first husband, of 34 years, Richard M. Lord and her second husband, of 13 years, Leslie Valentine; two stepdaughters: Barbara Valentine and Sue Portz; Step-son Leslie Valentine, Jr. and 1 grandchild Marteen Bedsaul.

Mildred now leaves behind her sister Betty Garman; son Stanley M. Lord (wife Barbara) and daughter Judith A. Thompson (husband Robert); step-daughter Dorothy Bedsaul (husband Bob); 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren; 4 great, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 3-7:00 p.m. Fri. Apr. 20, 2012 at Charles Carroll Funeral Home 15 Teloma Dr. Ventura, CA 93003. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sat. April 21, 2012 at Charles Carroll Funeral Home. Burial will be at 11:15 a.m. Mon. April 23, 2012 at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Memorial Fund, in Mildred’s name, to the First Christian Church of Ventura at 38 Teloma Dr, Ventura, CA 93003.
