

Nancy Lee Dols was called home to be with her heavenly Father on February 20, 2015 at the age of 71. She was born on March 16th, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland to Charles and Dorothy Heinzenberger. She graduated from Catonsville High School in Catonsville, MD and then from the University of Maryland School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science in nursing.
She served for over forty years as a registered nurse in multiple medical areas. She began her career at the University Hospital in Baltimore, where she worked in the new field of pacemaker implants among many other assignments at the hospital. Due to her husband’s career in field service, she also served in the Critical Care Unit of a hospital in Bremerton, WA and as a Clinical Nurse in Coco Beach, FL. She returned to University Hospital in 1972 and served in the Intensive Care Unit until moving to Ventura, CA in 1985. She became a Nurse Manager in the Acute Care Unit at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo, CA. When her time at Pleasant Valley came to an end she became the Nursing Director in the Ojai, CA office for Horizon Home Health, where she continued to share her passion and her calling to help those in need. She concluded her career by working for Anthem/Blue Cross until 2005 when she retired after being diagnosed with dementia.
Nancy loved her Lord and served faithfully at Grace Lutheran Church as a Sunday school teacher and loved to share her beautiful voice in praise with her many friends in the church choir.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dorothy Heinzenberger of Baltimore and her brother Charles of Santa Maria.
Nancy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who would brighten any room she was in with a quick smile and an infectious laugh. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Paul, her sons, Paul and Keith, daughter-in-law Lisa and her grandchildren, Steven and Kaitlyn Dols.
The family wishes to extend their love and gratitude to the staff of Buena Vista Hospice Care, as well as her two care givers who were so devoted to her, Rose of Advantage Plus Caregivers and Nicole of Meditek Health Services. For the unconditional and compassionate care and love they provided the family, we will forever be grateful.
A graveside burial service will take place at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 2:30pm. Ivy Lawn is located at 5400 Valentine A Memorial Service will take place at Grace Lutheran Church in Ventura on Saturday, March 14th at 2:00 pm. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in her name. Donations can be made via the web at www.alz.org
