

He was born March 20, 1919 on a farm in Polk County, Missouri. Owen was the youngest of six children born to Arvil and Frona (Black) Crain. He attended schools in Louisburg and Goodson, Missouri. He was an Army veteran and spent two years in the Pacific during World War II. He fought in the New Guinea and Luzon campaigns where he received a bronze star medal.
Owen married Kathleen Gould on December 22, 1946 in Morrisville, Mo. They moved to Ventura in 1947. He worked as an oil field mechanic for Associated Oil, Lloyd Corp. and Texaco. He retired in 1984.
He was an active member for 60 years of Coastline Bible Church. He enjoyed travel, sports, fishing and telling stories of the “good old days.” His greatest joy was being with family and his good neighbors.
Owen is survived by his wife, Kathleen, of 65 years; daughters Deborah (Michael) Costello and Barbara Crain; grandchildren Kathleen (Lyndon) Leonard, Kristin Costello and Keith Costello; great-grandchild Kendra Leonard; numerous nieces and nephews.
He showed his friends and family how to live a Godly life filled with gentleness, support, joy, humor, generosity, wisdom, love and thankfulness to God.
A visitation will be held on Monday, September 17 from 3P.M. to 6 P.M. at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road in Ventura. A service to honor his life will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 11:00 A.M. at The Coastline Bible Church, 426 S. Mills Road in Ventura with the Pastor Rob Perkins officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the music department of Coastline Bible Church.
Owen Crain served his country, family and God well.
