

Lifelong Ventura resident, Renee R. Valencia 91, died April 26, 2013 in the town where she was born and raised. Renee attended Holy Cross School, Ventura Jr. High School, and Ventura Jr. College. She was a World War II Women’s Army Corps Veteran, honorably discharged at the rank of Technician Fourth Grade having served in the European African Middle Eastern Campaign.
Renee was the beloved daughter of Roy F. Valencia and Mary Cota Valencia, who preceded her in death. She was also a beloved sister and auntie and is survived by her sister Shirley Tangney of Ventura and brother Don Valencia of Wilmington, Deleware as well as many nieces and nephews. Renee was always giving and taking care of her family. She was a loving caregiver to her mother as well.
Renee cherished being a member of the Legion of Mary where she taught catechism. She enjoyed fishing, and spending time with all her sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews, especially the babies.

A graveside service with military honors for Renee will be held Friday, May 3, 2013, 11:00 AM, at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Road, Ventura.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura.
