Our Good Lord has called home Ronald Konstanzer "Ron" to most that knew him, and "Conni" to his firemen family, following a very ambitious and heroic battle with cancer.
He was a beloved husband of 46 years, and a father to Jeff and Shelley. Ron and his wife Louise had both grown up in Eagle Rock, California and met in high school. They married in February of 1967. They moved to the Ojai Valley and had two children.
Ron was an Engineer in the Ventura City Fire Department until he retired in 1978. He and his wife Louise then continued the legacy of his father and opened a successful family business in Conejo Valley, a wholesale optical lab and shortly after moved that successful business to the Ojai Valley where they thrived along with their children for 32 years. Many of the community worked for the Konstanzers and have very fond memories.
Both of his children married and provided collectively five beautiful granddaughters, Rowan Elizabeth Konstanzer, 11, Vanessa Louise DeLano, 11, Tabitha Leanne DeLano, 10, Devon Ida Konstanzer, 9, and Amelia Asher Konstanzer, 7. Amongst his hobbies were playing tennis, playing pool, building and flying RC model airplanes with the Ventura Comets, which inspired him to get his pilot's license. One of his favorite hobbies was spending time with family and his beautiful granddaughters, and riding his Harley with Jeff or Louise. Ron always was and continues to be an inspiration to all his family. He was strong, ambitious and wise. He will be truly missed by all.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013, 10:30 a.m., at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, in Ventura.
