Ronald Joseph Schommer

Ron is survived by his brother, John Schommer of Ventura, CA; son and daughter-in-law, Curt and Melissa Schommer of Turlock, CA; son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Violeta Schommer of Ventura, CA; and granddaughter, Kai Schommer. He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Schommer.

Ron was born in San Mateo, CA on August 24, 1947 to Henry and Rachel Schommer. Raised in Fresno, CA, he attended San Joaquin Memorial High School and excelled in track & field and football. Football brought Ron to California Lutheran College in Thousand Oaks, CA, where he met Margaret. Ron and Margaret settled in Ventura, raising their sons near the beach in Pierpont.

Ron was "The Mayor of Bath Lane" and would often be found pitching horseshoes and hosting cocktails at sunset on his balcony for his many friends, both old and new.

A memorial will take place at the "Watermark on Main" on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at 6:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, please donate to California Lutheran University in the name of Ron & Margaret Schommer.
