Sylvia was born on June 21, 1926 in Santa Paula, California to Felix and Valentina Gonzales. She was the youngest of ten siblings, Albertina, Pauline, Margret, Alice, Robert, Manuel, Eli, Victor and Frank. On February 22, 2013 two days before her late husband’s birthday, Antonio A. De Los Santos (Tony), held out his hand to the love of his life and said “Sylvia Vamonos”. With God’s blessing she took Tonys hand and went. Sylvia passed away at home surrounded by her loving family. She was 86 years old. She worked at Point Mugu Naval Base. Sylvia married Tony on June 3, 1945, lived in a small house in Saticoy and raised their children. After many family rides to the Ojai Valley, hard work and savings they both decided on country life. They bought their land, house plans, and together they built a castle, we would call that home for 47 years. Mom was spoiled, when- ever she asked dad to build, move or plant something he did not hesitate, well maybe just a little. It was such a beautiful sight to see dad serenade mom, he had such a beautiful voice, after 67 years of marriage she would still blush.
Mom loved taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They loved going over too, crying when they had to go home. She decided to get her nursing assistant degree and worked for Ojai Valley Gardens for 17 years. She was loved by her patients and co-workers winning employee of the year eight years in a row.
Sylvia was greeted in the heavens by her husband Tony and daughter Sylvia also known as Kathy. Sylvia had eight proud children, Sylvia (Kathy) Garcia, Yvonne De Los Santos, Patricia Rivera (husband Reynaldo), Raymond (wife Candace), Anthony (wife Rhoda), Robert (wife Helen), Elizabeth De Los Santos Perez (husband Joe) and Kimberly Centeno (husband Anthony). She had 16 grandchildren whom she helped raise, Joey, Carlos, Felicia Garcia, Renee, Luis, Dr. Reynaldo (Naldo) Rivera, Sylvia, Raymond, Kyle De Los Santos, Annett, Anthony, Joaquin De Los Santos, Jessica and Brooke De Los Santos, Joel De Los Santos Perez and 26 great-grandchildren.
