

Thelma’s family moved from Montana to a farm in Four Lakes, Washington. It was the rural farm life that instilled in Thelma a love of gardening, canning and quilting. Later in life she would become active with her children as a 4-H leader. She was an award winning seamstress and Senior Bowler. During World War II, Thelma served as a Pharmacist Mate 3rd Class in the United States Navy.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Bill Koberstein of Spokane, WA, LaVonne and Larry Driver of Ventura, Connie and Richard Ward of Arlington, TX; grandchildren, Scott (Stephanie) Koberstein, Kristy (Earnie) Stephens, Michael Ward, Nicholas Driver and Nathaniel (Amanda) Driver; seven great grandchildren; brother, Delbert Spear of Spokane, WA; sister, Doreen Kafer of Bothell, WA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Roscoe Atkins, in May of last year.
Visitation will take place Saturday, April 25 and Sunday April 26, Noon until 5PM, at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura.
Graveside services will be held Monday, April 27, 2015, 11:00 AM, at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura, with The Reverend Dan Hull officiating. Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Navy.
