Warren Buddy Richard Mingus

Warren “Buddy” Richard Mingus passed away from natural causes during the evening of January 14, 2013. The son of Elizabeth Ellen Pinske and Warren Purdy Mingus, Buddy was born on January 16, 1927 in Colorado. He spent his formative years in Richmond, California, before moving with his family to settle against the hillside of La Conchita while in his late teens. After high school, Buddy went to Ventura College and for several years, where he enjoyed working on the “Pirate Press”. After college, Buddy joined the military and then acquired a job at Talley Rockets, where he worked until retirement. Buddy was known for his love of college basketball and movies, annual trips to the Ventura County Fair, enjoying lunch at the Vagabond Inn, and walking his dogs on the beach. He will be greatly missed by his brothers, William Mingus (Carole) and Marshal Mingus (Maggie) and his sister, Joan McCoy (David). He is also survived by his nieces, Lisa Urwick (Mark), Valerie Beck (Dion), Teri McCoy, Carrie Hollingsworth; nephews, Christopher McCoy, Christopher Klemetson; grand-nieces, Kennedy Beck, Elizabeth Urwick, Jaden Blackburn; and grand-nephews, Levi, Dakota and Cody Riffee, Carter Beck and Eddie Urwick.
