

Ralph was born in Riverside, CA and came to Ventura in his youth. He graduated from Ventura High School in 1955. Ralph proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Over the years, he worked as an office machine repairman, truck driver and forklift operator.
Ralph was an avid racer. In his youth, he participated in local and state soap box derby competitions winning many a race. He continued his love for most any kind of racing involving NASCAR or drags. Ralph also enjoyed car shows, hot rods and motorcycles. Ralph was a proud charter member of the Borrachos motorcycle club of Ventura. He deeply loved his family, friends and his dog, Bosco. Ralph positively impacted everyone he met. He loved people and people loved him. Ralph will be truly missed.
He is lovingly remembered by his son, John Avila (wife Leslie); daughter, Michelle Avila-Mendoza (husband Oscar), six grandchildren: John “Anthony” Avila (wife Chantel), April Carpenter (husband Chad), Stephanie Taylor (husband Graham), Justine Avila, Andre Avila (wife Kristen) and Michael Avila-Sedillos; and five great-grandchildren: Ashley Avila, Kaitlyn Avila, Ava Avila, Phoebe Avila and Phoenix Avila all of Ventura County.
The Ploch family offers a special thank you to Community Memorial Hospital administration and nursing staff for their loving care and support for Ralph.
A private funeral service was held in Ventura.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura.
