It is with much sorrow, love and gratitude that we announce the passing of Maurice Gingerysty on March 13, 2021, in Ste-Anne de Bellevue.
He was a loyal husband, a good father, a doting grandfather, an attentive brother and a caring uncle.
He was born on Easter Sunday, April 12, 1925 to Maria (Halajko) and Basil (Wasyl) Gingerysty who immigrated from the Ukraine and lived his entire life in LaSalle and Pine Hill, Quebec.
He is sadly missed by his wife Denise (Marcotte), the love of his life, with whom he was married over 65 years.
His children Perry (Lucy Moro) and Louise, and his grandchildren James, Thomas and Ellen also miss him greatly.
He is also grieved by his sister Adela (Bush), his sister in law Gloria Stocker, and his nieces and nephews in Montreal, Pine Hill and Calgary.
The family wished to express their thanks to the staff at Ste-Anne’s hospital for their attentive care and assistance, especially Francois, Martine, Lucie, Marie-Claude, Dr. Lavallee, Diane, Ngoc and all those who made a difficult time a little easier.
Denise, Perry and Louise Gingerysty

A TRIBUTE TO MAURICE
(by Gloria)
I met Maurice and Denise soon after I met Louis. I was about 19 years old at the time. They were getting married in July of 1955. I will always remember how picture perfect they were (as a picture you would see in a magazine) … and oh so happy!
I remember going to Louis parent’s house on Christmas Eve. Maurice had just recently been transferred back to Montreal from New York. Denise had to stay there with her sister and brother-in-law because the baby was due anytime. Then around 10:30 PM or so Maurice received a call saying everything went well and that he was now the proud father of a new baby boy. Perry was born. Maurice was so overwhelmed that I saw tears in his eyes.
That night I found out that he was in the Navy. A sailor in World War II. There was honour, respect and regards for his service to our country.
So here is a poem I have written to honour Maurice.
A BRAVE SOLDIER
He was a brother-in-law to remember
With his strong mind and good heart
He looked after the family tenderly
Never wavering and gave them a good start
A steadfast and fine hockey coach
He taught his team how to score
Even in practice, with his own approach
Telling the team they had to do more
Wonderful times in Pine Hill
Everyone would gather for a bon fire
We roasted corn and hot dogs on the grill
We sat and talked regardless of our attire
One day a truck was crossing the bridge
And Maurice slipped and fell from the edge
Later when we looked at his clothesline
We saw his money hanging on the main line
Working for CP Rail for 45 years
He rarely missed a day
Always working hard with his peers
He visited his mom and dad without delay
But we won’t hear his tales any longer
For our chief has passed away
And the world’s a little poorer
For our mentor and soldier has died today.
On behalf of Maurice, he says thank you to Denise, Perry and Louise for your love, your caring and sharing. Here is a song for family and friends …

WE’LL MEET AGAIN – BY VERA LYNN
We'll Meet Again Don't know where, don't know when
But I know We'll Meet Again
Some sunny day Keep smiling through
Just like you always do
'Till the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away
So, will you please say hello
To the folks that I know
Tell them I won't be long
They'll be happy to know
That as you saw me go I was singing this song
We'll Meet Again Don't know where, don't know when
But I know we'll meet again Some sunny day
We'll Meet Again Don't know where, don't know when
But I know we'll meet again Some sunny day
Keep smiling through
Just like you always do
'Till the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away
So, will you please say hello
To the folks that I know
Tell them I won't be long
They'll be happy to know
That as you saw me go I was singing this song
We'll Meet Again Don't know where, don't know when
But I know We'll Meet Again Some sunny day
PEACE BE WITH YOU MAURICE
LOVE,
GLORIA

Remembering Uncle Moe, my Mom’s oldest brother
He will always hold a special place in my heart. He was a very passionate & gritty gentleman who loved his family deeply.
Growing up all together in Montreal, weekends & vacations in Pine Hill bring back so many great memories!
Uncle Moe was famous for his dill pickles & I can still visualize him picking popinki mushrooms with Baba & Didi up at the cottage.
I always enjoyed having a beer with him at the Pine Hill Hotel or at Le Chasseur. He was quick to share his wisdom & offer great advice.
In recent years Lee & I enjoyed spending time with him at the Ste-Anne’s Veterans Hospital. Commemorating Remembrance Day with him was special & impactful!
He had a sharp analytical mind & this was clearly evident with discussions about hockey & his beloved Montreal Canadiens! We both enjoyed listening to him as he expressed his fervent views & opinions on the Habs.
We know he is routing for Nos Glorieux from up above.
Love & miss you Uncle Moe.
Ronnie & Lee

Louise,
I received a tex from Perry about dad;
I am overwhelmed with emotion
My mind is being flooded with Memories
He has been a huge role model in my life
I am the man I am today because of his influence.
He has been a guiding light for us all.
Most off all, a Father to me, I ask you please
to tell dad how much I love him.
My prayers and thoughts are with you, Perry and aunt Denise
❤️❤️❤️
Keith

Hi Moe!
It's me again, big little sister.
Nice that we were able to have somewhat of a conversation during your dying days in the hospital; I think reminiscing did us good.
We were a bunch of nationalities who got along very well, down by the river side…
I know you’re in peace now in heaven… till we meet again,
LOVE, Adela
