It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of a brave, one-of-a-kind, incredible and irreplaceable man. You were a pioneer in spirit. Rest in Peace my Papi, our Grossdaddi and soul mate. May your fire to live a colorful, passionate and inspired life continue to shine through the unbelievable creations you built, paradise you brought to fruition and the grandchildren you’ve influenced that will carry on your heritage and traditions. You loved nature, animals, flowers and having deep conversations about everything! You did everything for your family and future that gave you an unimaginable strength to succeed. You were a “doer,” you did everything you ever envisioned that so many others could not fathom how you did it and how you taught yourself. You had the confidence and wisdom to take on any challenge, overcome any obstacle and helped anyone accomplish any task.
You never gave up, with a hard childhood, a deadly illness at the age of 7, many injuries working and playing hard, misfortunes with your dream of running a fallow deer farm, the diagnosis and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and then lastly your mesothelioma battle. You were a fighter and a survivor, until the angels came to bring you home suddenly. You were working on your last piece of art and legacy, “The Tree House,” an inspiration of imagination and artistic creation for generations to come. In the final hour you were fixing the tractor. You were called on a very mystic autumn afternoon, the start to a blue full moon and Halloween weekend. You sent us so many extraordinary signs the following days and nights. We can say you lived and died doing what you desired on the place you called home, The Sunrise Ranch. No one told you what to do or stood in your way and now you got your wish to go to Mexico this November.
At age nine, you built your first “Alphuettli” in the Alps where you spent most of your time with the sheep and goats exploring nature, discovering your thrill for independence, adventure and risk. You lived an exciting life where you were determined to set out on your own at the age of 14. In your early 20’s you immigrated from Switzerland to B.C. and you bought your dream property you transformed where you began your new life as a successful farmer, talented jack of all trades and landscaper. This was not easy, but you conquered every hardship with huge sacrifices. This may have made you a hard man to understand by some, however, many saw this and had great respect for your power, courage, cleverness and knowledge they regularly seeked your advice and perspective.
Soon after you met the love of your life and became a father, a Papi, you were so proud. You gave everything to keep this family together. You were our rock. You always had that touch, brought beauty and love into the house with your soulful and romantic ways. You always knew how to work hard, relax and how to have a good time at a party as a joker. Thank you for showing us how to appreciate Mother Nature, animals and how to create from the heart. You always said anyone can do anything if they put their mind to it, doesn’t matter who you are or where you came from, always reach for the stars and have faith. I know your ways and beliefs have been carried over and instilled into your grandchildren. When I look at them I see you more than ever before. They will always be empowered by what you have created and left behind for us to continue. You will forever be our inspirational star. We will forever love and miss you. We will long for your ideas, views and always wonder if we are doing it how you would have. We hope to continue to make you proud as you are smiling from up above.
Celebration of Life will be held in late spring/summer at the farm. We will plant a sapling in honor of your love for nature on your birthday as we always had a party. You will continue to live throughout the seasons where we can go sit and ask for advice. In lieu of donations your last wish was to finish your last piece of legacy, The Tree House for your grandkids and we would rather come together share a good time, good laughs and stories.
We’d like to extend a special thank-you to his nurse, Jackie Issler and Dr. Raupach for their dedicated care.
You are the twinkle in the stars, warm breeze at our backs, the radiance in the sunrises, the glow in sunsets, the many vibrant colors of the rainbows, the tranquility of the mountains and sounds of water, the perfection of snowflakes and water droplets, the soothing fragrances of your passion for roses and flowers and your taste and style of good meaningful music. We will feel you embracing us as we continue to live our lives and hear you say that is the cycle of Mother Nature and God. So until we meet again, we will feel you embracing us in the beauty of nature. You are now our guardian angel. In loving memory, forever in our hearts, and missing you beyond measures, the love of your life, Rita Eberhard, daddy’s girl, Patricia and Brennan Dyck with beloved grandchildren Angus, Marcella and Axel and extended family in Switzerland.
