Mom survived her parents Omer and Agnes Lamoureux. Alice was the third child of six siblings – Leo Lamoureux (deceased) (Madeline), Yvette Gervais (Francis), Albert Lamoureux, Adele Piquette (Paul), Marie-Cecile Fontaine (Marcel). Along with this incredible Gervais - Lamoureux legacy of five children, seventeen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, Mom was born on a farm in Lac La Biche, Alberta – married Alphonse (Dad) brother of Francis who married mom’s sister Yvette two years prior. Mom and Dad were married in Normandeau, Alberta on November 10, 1953, and took a Greyhound bus to Edmonton to have their wedding pictures taken. They moved to Coquitlam (Maillardville) B.C. where mom continued to be a homemaker, a dietary employee at Vernon Jubilee Hospital and an orchardist on a gorgeous fruit farm in Oyama, B.C. Mom loved family gatherings with an abundance of cooking involved and always fed us well. Retirement brought mom and dad to Kal Pine Estates, then to a condominium on 32nd Street in Vernon, and onward to The Victorian and Creekside Landing Residences.
Mom was taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital on December 22, 2025, after a fall at home, underwent an operation to repair a broken femur on December 24th, 2025. The surgeon was pleased with the healing process of her leg, but mom sustained post-surgical complications that she would not overcome. Her poor body was exhausted, and she succumb to palliative care in hospital until her passing on the afternoon of Saturday, January 10, 2026.
We owe immense gratitude and thanks to all the professionals who cared for mom along the way, with special mention to Dr. Louis Boucher and staff, Interior Health and Vernon Jubilee Hospital. From all the communities where our parents resided, Mom was considered by all who met her to be exceedingly kind and sweet and she touched so many hearts, her laughter will be missed. With her angel wings intact, mom’s job on earth is complete and has now joined Dad in Heaven where they can sing, play music and dance together once more. Thank you for all life’s lessons you taught us. You remain close in our hearts always with “Love you forever,” Mom.
