It is with sad hearts that we announce our beautiful mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully at the North Okanagan Hospice house. After a stroke on January 2, her condition became more complex, almost daily until she was released of her suffering on Saturday March 11, 2017. She was 90 years old.
Annemarie was born in Mainz, Germany where she grew up, and learned the profession of book-keeper/accountant. She married the love of her life Hermann on May 18, 1945. After World War II, they immigrated to Canada in 1952. With hard work, perseverance and determination they established a good life for themselves and would consider Canada “home”. Annemarie was a tireless worker who was employed by law firms, both in Edmonton and Vernon for many years. She was an intelligent, quiet elegant lady who loved reading, classical music and BBC mysteries. She even wrote and published her memoirs.
Annemarie leaves to mourn; In Canada, her children George and Monica, grandchildren Greg, Jennifer, Rachelle and John-Paul and 3 great grandchildren. In Germany, her two brothers Achim and Mike, brother-in-law Rainer as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is now reunited with her beloved husband, parents, sister and great grandchild baby Marlowe.
The family will be having a service later in the spring, to celebrate Annemarie’s life. We would like to extend thanks and gratitude to Dr. Kobus LeRoux and the Hospice House for their excellent care.
In lieu of flowers donations will be gratefully accepted for the North Okanagan Hospice House
Arrangements under the direction of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, Vernon, BC.
