Born May 6, 1929 in Lumby,B.C. to Joseph and Helen Myers of Cherryville, the eldest of seven children.
Dad grew up in the Richlands area of Cherryville, attending the one room school on Hammond Road. He started
his working life at his uncles’ Raymond and Gus Uttke sawmill. He joined the B.C. Forest service in 1954 with help
from his uncle, Alf Specht. He met Margaret Spankie in 1954, whom he married in 1955. During his 35 years of
service in the forestry, he discovered an unnamed creek near Osoyoos which they named for him - Myers Creek.
After taking an early retirement, Dad and Mom had a new venture in retail, running the Thrift Bakery in Vernon
for a number of years. Dad and Mom finally had a honeymoon, traveling down to Casper, Wyoming which ignited
a further interest in traveling. Dad was a quiet man. He loved gathering with family and sharing stories. He was
